What a weekend! We road tripped the 15hrs from Denver to Houston for the IBJJF Open. I don't know about you guys, but road trips never seem like such a good idea after a few hours lol. This was my first competition of 2015 & only my second IBJJF tournament, so I'm pretty excited to get 2nd place in my weight class. I'm feeling more & more comfortable competing at this higher level and I'm looking forward to keeping this momentum up for the rest of the year!
Great sparring today at BlackHouse MMA. It was my first time at the gym & it was amazing! Such a great place to get in great training with high level fighters. This was my first time sparring with Brendan in quite a while & he is looking great. He's improved in everyway since we last trained together, inspiring me to want to work even harder!
I'm honored to be asked out to Brendan Schaub's training camp for his UFC 181 fight against Travis Browne. Brendan's opponent is my height as well as fights with a similar style as myself. I haven't been to Los Angeles since my amateur boxing days so it will be nice to see the city again! Who doesn't like the West Coast? Here's to hoping I get in on some of this amazing California Jiu Jitsu!
